Two California Institute of Finance Graduates win the 40 Under 40 Award

A special dinner reception to salute the 40 Under 40 winners for 2012 was held at the Topa Tower Club in Oxnard on October 15, 2012.  40 distinguished professionals were chosen from the Ventura County to receive this title and two of the winners were California Lutheran University students.  We congratulate Sergio Villa and Brendon Cussio, for their achievements.

Sergio Villa was once a little Latino boy standing on the side of the road in Los Angeles, selling oranges and flowers.  Today, he helms a wealth management startup that is already earning the praises of its clients. Villa is also the immediate past president of the Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and has volunteered time teaching financial literacy to school children.

Villa, 33, started his own wealth management firm Alliance Wealth Strategies, in Santa Barbara in 2009.

Brendon Cussio

Brendon Cussio was a private banker at Wells Fargo in 2010 when he was lured by the chief of Solarsilicon Recycling Services to join that firm.  Since January 2011, Cussio has been vice president of finance and marketing for Solarsilicon, a Camarillo-based company that recycles off-spec silicon for the solar industry.  Cussio, 27, is a native of the area and received his bachelor’s degree and his MBA from California Lutheran University before spending six years with Wells Fargo.  Cussio, this past summer, founded the Dolce Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funds to support higher education, sustainability and humanitarianism.
