Economic Empowerment for Women

Break Freee has recently celebrated its 2nd anniversary. Break Freee is a program established by the California Institute of Finance, whose goal is economic empowerment for women through the offer of free, unbiased access to financial information and education to women in need It was funded by a grant from the Certified Financial Planner Board and by the California Institute of Finance.
During the past two years Breakfreee has received questions from women on many different subjects including dividing up your assets during divorce; paying off debts; student loans, returning to school; and budgeting.

“When the project started we knew there was a need to provide unbiased, financial advice to women who can least afford to pay for it. What we didn’t foresee was the economic slowdown and recession, coupled with job losses and foreclosures which have made things even worse for many low income women and families.”

The website (www.breakfreee.

The California Institute of Finance has run a series of webinars this fall featuring Elizabeth Jetton (CFP). The funds raised from these webinars will go towards helping to continue funding Break Freee. The finally webinar “Financial Planning for Women: Changing the Conversation” will be held on Thursday, November 4th at 11:00 am PST. Please join us for this webinar and help out a great cause at the same time.
