Professor Profile

Mr. Dillon has been playing with computers since 1976 and working with them since 1982.  After earning his Masters in Computer Science from Cal Lutheran, he began teaching at CLU part time “for the joy of working with students” and is now a Senior Adjunct Professor in the Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals program, teaching Computer Science classes.

He began his software career, ironically, as a hardware engineer, designing automated test equipment at the circuit level, then writing the code that controlled the circuitry and related test instruments.  His last hardware design was a Radar Range Simulator, which mimicked the intermittent return pulses of a target attempting to evade a fighter aircraft.

Frequently published and occasionally featured as a speaker at technical conferences, Mr. Dillon was a “recognized expert” in the field of IBM Lotus Notes application development, especially with business workflow applications.

Outside the world of software, his passions are performance rally racing (www.WidgetRacing.com) and improvisational theater.  He has twice won U.S. national championships as an Open class rally co-driver, and occasionally plays music at some of the improv shows.

After 33 years with a scientific research company, he recently retired so he can spend more time teaching, writing, racing and traveling.  Prof. Dillon looks forward to many more years as a member of the CLU faculty.
