CLUFest 2006
On View April 1 – April 13, 2006 CLUFEST 2006 will display an exciting selection of media artwork created by CLU students during their college careers. Categories include animation, graphic arts, digital cinema, experimental media and interactive design. The third annual Design Journal Show will display CLU multimedia students’ daily design journals chronicling their discovered moments and points in time that are amusing, sad, funny, inspirational and thought provoking. From these unique experiences, the students have created pages filled with images and words that portray their individual perspectives on life. Read More

LA/24 Multimedia Exhibition showcases life in Los Angeles
On view November 4 – 17, 2005 The design journals of multimedia students at California Lutheran University will be on display from Friday, Nov. 4, through Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture in the CLU Soiland Humanities Center. The exhibit officially opens on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. Los Angeles is one of the largest and most powerful cities in the world. With more than 20 million people in the greater metropolitan area, it dominates world culture with the Hollywood and Disneyland mystique. To present 24 hours in the life of a small town is one challenge, now the task is to capture 24 hours in the life of a megalopolis. With bold, innovative presentation techniques, the multimedia students will provide an LA experience you’ll never forget. Read More
TO/24 Multimedia Exhibition
On view October 17 – 31, 2005 The design journals of CLU’s multimedia students will be on display from Monday, Oct. 17, through Monday, Oct. 31, in the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture. The exhibit officially opens on Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. Present 24 hours in the life of your community. That’s the challenge given to the multimedia classes this semester. Go out to your community and find out what happens in one day – 24 hours/1,440 minutes/864,000 seconds. What makes the town tick, where is its heart, its soul, who are its heroes, villains, celebrities and elders? Collect all the behind the scenes stories and share them with the community: the feelings, the visions, joys and sorrows. Using photography, graphic design, sculpture, surround sound, video display and projection, the students will create a dynamic, innovative multimedia presentation and exhibit that will inspire you with spirited and poignant answers. The Veteran Fishermen of Ballona
On view September 9 – October 6, 2005 The newest paintings by Christophe Cassidy will be featured in the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture from Friday, Sept. 9, through Thursday, Oct. 6. An opening reception will be held in the galleryon Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. Admission is free. The Veteran Fishermen of Ballona is a series of paintings inspired by the concrete landscape/seascape of Ballona Creek, which runs through Los Angeles under the 405 and 90 freeways and pours out into the Pacific at the mouth of Marina del Rey harbor. The place has a semi–industrial, semi–wild feel to it, and a vast variety of animals and birds inhabit its concrete route. It can also be a solitary space where many people find refuge from urban life. These paintings are a tribute to this poetic concrete wilderness. Cassidy is a successful painter and muralist who lives and works in Los Angeles. He moved to California as a boy from his native France and grew up visiting museums in the United States and Europe. Multimedia Design Journals on Display
On View January 30 – February 27, 2005 As part of their course work, the multimedia students keep a daily design journal of their lives in which they chronicle discovered moments, points in time that are amusing, sad, stupid, funny, inspirational, joyous, thought provoking or perplexing. From these unique experiences, the students create pages filled with images and words that portray their individual perspective on life. These journals prove that the simple decision to stop, observe, perceive, record can reap amazing results. Already at this beginning stage, the work reveals the sparks that will mature into a unique style, a signature look, a distinctive voice, a compelling vision. The collective power of the students’ work challenges you, the viewer, to bravely take the joyous leap and start your own journal. Senior Art Exhibit 2004
On View: Saturday, April 24- Saturday, May 15 Participating in the exhibit are Kimberly Bartol of Canyon Country, Jason Block of Salt Lake City, Utah, Gregorio De Masi of Thousand Oaks, Diana Figueroa of Los Angeles, Amie Haltman of Cathedral City, Elizabeth Hergert of Greeley, Colo., Christopher Hughes of Lakewood, Renee Papegaay of Camarillo, and Bryan Zumo of Simi Valley. The display will feature drawings, photography, painting, printmaking, computer graphics, ceramics and sculpture. Serving more than 1,900 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students, the selective liberal arts and science university offers 36 majors along with professional preparation programs in specified fields of study. Master’s degree programs are offered in education, psychology, business administration, and public policy and administration. A doctoral program in educational leadership is offered through the School of Education.
