Santa Fe, New Mexico is an art lover’s dream. The third largest art market in the country, there are hundreds of art galleries tucked away along winding streets and in atmospheric historic adobe homes. Numerous museums feature an array of artwork, from historic painting to contemporary Native art. During this virtual tour of Santa Fe and its incredible art scene, local art historian and tour guide Elaine Ritchel will introduce you to the “City Different” through its art and architecture. You’ll discover its historic arts districts, learn how Santa Fe developed into the creative hub it is today, and take a look at artwork by local artists.
Elaine Ritchel holds a master’s degree in art history from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as a gallery teacher at the Blanton Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb and as a visiting educator at the New Mexico Museum of Art. In 2015, Elaine established Santa Fe Art Tours (https://santafearttours.com/) to encourage meaningful connections with art. She also writes about art for New Mexico Magazine and other publications.
