Artist Laura Kina examines the experience of Okinawan immigrants and their descendants in Hawai’i, known as the Uchinanchu, in this exhibit of moving autobiographical pieces. Her patchwork and textile-based paintings feature deconstructed articles of clothing, fleeting moments and memories, specific events and time-honored cultural symbols.
A closing reception with the artist will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m.
